The Publishing Office Center of Shahed University was founded to safeguard the thoughts, new ideas, and knowledge of faculty members and researchers on a par with the dissemination, enhancement, and advancement of research activities in order to elevate research spirits, change of thoughts into science and its transfer to university students, present- day scholars, and future generations. It initiated its activity in 1993 and up to now has published a large number of books and journals in various fields of Medicine, Humanities, Engineering and Technical, Agriculture, and Art.
The scientific back-up of the faculty & the brilliant members of the council of publication as well as special attention & support of all estimated presidents of the university since the onset, along with incessant attempts and perseverance of the staff of the publishing office both in the past and present all finally came into fruition and brought about everlasting upshots in the realm of publication.
A. The Major Duties of university publishing office
1. Programming and provision of instruction & by –laws related to publication of books &journals/periodicals.
2. Deciding on proposals of publication of books and periodicals/Journals as well as the priority of each the relevant in compliance with By-laws and instructions;
3. Carrying out all the stages of publication of books and periodicals;
4. Drawing up contracts related to publication of books and journals and signing up contracts with the relevant individuals in charge;
5. Establishing communication with publishers & publication office/ Houses/ centers to exchange experiences and enhance better use of their facilities;
6. Making Decisions and commenting on the priority of publication of proposed books with an eye onto subject, author, and content
7. Pursuing the follow-up steps to acquire the required licenses from the authorities concerned in order to publish books and scientific journals
8. Programming and supervision over marketing and sale of published books and journals
9. Drawing up and presenting periodic, monthly, and other types of reports to the university's vice-president in research
10. Holding the sessions of publication council and Making decisions on publication request as well as allocating research points to the published works of the faculty
11. Carrying out other referred/tasks in the framework of university regulations
B. Aims &programs
1. Supporting valuable books, research –wise or financially
2. Acquisition of publication certificates for seven new scientific research journals.
3. Creating information banks to record all activities and decision-making processes of the council.
4. Mechanization of sales process and Distribution of published books.
5. Drawing –up the blue print of regulations governing publication of new journals.
6. Establishing the secretariat of scientific research journals inside the publication office.
